The town of Mount Airy sits in three different counties — Carroll, Howard and Frederick — so when community colleges in those counties were looking to build a health-care education center, the three decided there was no better location than the town where they all meet.

Classes have been in session for several weeks, but community college officials from Carroll, Howard and Frederick counties gathered in Mount Airy on Oct. 1 with U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski and other officials to officially open of the Mount Airy College Center for Health Care Education.
Mount Airy medical education center has 'grand opening'
Classes have begun at a new allied health care education center in Mount Airy that is expected to produce about 100 potential health care workers in Maryland each year.
About the Center
The Mount Airy College Center for Health Care Education is a unique collaboration between the community colleges of Carroll, Frederick and Howard Counties. By uniting the best health care programs from all three campuses, the center is helping to reduce a shortage of health care workers in Maryland, and providing graduates with the skills to sustain lifelong careers.
